چکیده
Ensuring vertical separation is a key means of maintaining safe between aircraft in congested airspace. Aircraft trajectories are modelled the presence significant epistemic uncertainty, leading to discrepancies observed and predictions deterministic models, hampering task planning ensure separation. In this paper probabilistic model presented, for purpose emulating climb bounding uncertainty predicted trajectory. A monotonic, functional representation exploits spatio-temporal correlations radar observations. Through use Gaussian Process Emulators, features that parameterise mapped directly outputs, providing fast approximation, while ensuring resulting trajectory monotonic. The was applied as digital twin baselined against BADA, widely used industry. When an unseen test dataset, found provide mean prediction 21% more accurate, with 34% sharper forecast.

Diagnostics for Gaussian Process Emulators
Mathematical models, usually implemented in computer programs known as simulators, are widely used in all areas of science and technology to represent complex real-world phenomena. Simulators are often so complex that they take appreciable amounts of computer time or other resources to run. In this context, a methodology has been developed based on building a statistical representation of the s...
متن کاملMultiobjective optimization using Gaussian process emulators via stepwise uncertainty reduction
Optimization of expensive computer models with the help of Gaussian process emulators in now commonplace. However, when several (competing) objectives are considered, choosing an appropriate sampling strategy remains an open question. We present here a new algorithm based on stepwise uncertainty reduction principles to address this issue. Optimization is seen as a sequential reduction of the vo...
متن کاملGaussian-Process-Based Emulators for Building Performance Simulation
In this paper, we present an emulator of a buildingenergy performance simulator. Previous work on emulators for this application has largely focused on linear models. Since the simulator itself is a collection of differential equations, we expect non-linear models to be better emulators than linear models. The emulator we present in this paper is based on Gaussian-process (GP) regression models...
متن کاملMultivariate Gaussian Process Emulators With Nonseparable Covariance Structures
Gaussian process regression models or ‘emulators’ have become popular in the statistical analysis of deterministic computer models (simulators), in particular for computationally expensive models where the emulator is used as a fast surrogate. For models with multivariate output, common practice is to specify a separable covariance structure for the Gaussian process. Though computationally conv...
متن کاملCoupling Polynomial Chaos Expansions with Gaussian Process Emulators: an Introduction
The present document introduces some ideas that could eventually lead to the use of Gaussian process emulators as an alternative to reduce the computational cost of the polynomial chaos expansion method. A simple stochastic mechanics problem is solved with the aid of an emulation algorithm. The results and challenges in adopting the proposed coupling are discussed.
